Lionville Youth Association is proud to host one of the largest recreational soccer programs in Pennsylvania.  Our program welcomes boys and girls from U6 through U19, and offers instructional play at our beautiful local fields. LYA’s intramural soccer leagues are recreational and developmental.  We emphasize FUN, good sportsmanship, and player development.  We recognize players are very impressionable and look up to coaches as role models and stress this fact to all our volunteers.

Age Groups and Season Format will be aligned with Youth US Soccer recommendations, with an emphasis on fostering a passion for the game and, particularly at the U6 through U9 age groups, a focus on individual skill development in small-sided games. 2016 LYA Intramural Soccer League Structure

Equipment requirements:

  • Cleats (no metal cleats) and shin guards are required
  • Mouthpieces are recommended by the Unites States Soccer Federation (USSF)
  • Uniforms (shirts and socks) are provided by LYA
  • Players are encouraged to bring their own soccer ball to practice although LYA will provide a supply for each team.

League Descriptions:

  • All leagues begin the week after Labor Day. League commissioners will publish the schedule and supply a copy to each player at the first practice. Play should end by October 31st with the exception of leagues that have playoffs. Play in these leagues may extend into November should weather force some games to reschedule.
  • Generally, each team will have a Saturday game or practice. League Commissioners and coaches may reschedule games for Sunday if necessary. Weekday games are held during the month of September. There are no weekday games during the month of October on account of darkness.
  • Playoff leagues are boys and girls grades 4th and higher. This may change due to the number of registrations in each league.
  • Senior boys (high school) has been cancelled in the past due to lack of interest,
  • LYA has adopted the USSF best practice for our kindergarten and 1st grade leagues. We play short sided short fields. Play is four on four with no goalie on a shorter field to encourage better play.

Coach Information:

  • LYA soccer is continually looking for volunteers. If you are interested in coaching a team please note that on your registration form or contact the appropriate league commissioner directly.
  • All coaches (head coach and assistant coach) are required to sign the LYA Memorandum of Understanding. In order to protect our children, LYA does perform a background check on all coaches associated with any LYA program including intramural soccer.
